Keys to Freedom & Healing
It is our goal at IBCC to help people find freedom from the impact of sin in their lives and healing from past wounds that hinder their spiritual and emotional maturity. It is important for our clients to understand that it is beyond the counselor’s ability in and of himself to provide freedom and healing. To receive the greatest benefit from the counseling sessions it is expected that our clients take personal responsibility for their freedom and healing. In evaluating our most successful cases we have found the following keys to be true in the clients lives.
They surrendered themselves to God with humility and courage (Psalm 139:23-24).
They separated themselves from any influence that would hinder their healing (2 Corinthians 6:18).
They developed a relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible reading, prayer, Scripture meditation and personalization, and journaling (Jeremiah 29:13).
They understood their position in Christ as a child of a loving Heavenly Father (Romans 8:16).
They looked to God for wisdom and revelation through His Word and through His Holy Spirit (James 1:5).
They were willing to hear God speak to them (Hebrews 3:15).
They became involved in a community of life-giving believers (Hebrews 10:24-25).
They took responsibility for the works of their flesh and repented of sin (Psalm 51:4).
They were willing to open up their past wounds to allow God’s healing (Luke 4:18).
They understood that healing is a process directed by God (Jeremiah 17:14).
They took responsibility for their own maturity (1 Peter 2:2).
They were willing to apply the Armor of God in their spiritual battle against Satan (Ephesians 6:11-12).
They grew in understanding how to live out of their new heart in Christ (Ezekiel 36:26-27).
